Some tips for finding direction
If you can, this Easter Monday is a great moment to recharge. You’ve been stretching your resilience muscles over the last 3 weeks and we know that for muscles to gain strength they need a rest period.
One aspect of your resilience you could (gently) reflect on over a long weekend: what is your interim purpose? It’s likely your role will currently be different to how it was 3 weeks ago. Busier or quieter, different activities.
What was driving you 3 weeks ago, may no longer be your main motivator. And it’s possible you feel (or may start to notice you feel) a bit directionless over time as many businesses enter Phase 2 of crisis: prolonged uncertainty.
So try choosing an ‘interim’ short term purpose to create a sense of connection and help you keep up your energy. What would feel good to aim for over the next few weeks, whether that’s at work or home?
Whatever it is, here's some questions to help you get there:
1) What are your regularly recurring thoughts about this crisis? Write them down.
2) Are these thoughts helping you work towards the outcomes you want to create?
3) If yes, great, bring on those positive outcomes. If no, what new thoughts would help you create the outcomes you want? Write them down and mentally rehearse them.
